After a number of years managing a group of trees afflicted with ash dieback (noting a deterioration in their condition), we need to heed the advice of the specialists who survey these trees and arrange for a number of them to be felled. The works are taking place in June, with replanting occurring later in the year with alternate species once the neighbouring trees have had an opportunity to adjust. Woolgate use a local specialist for all tree surgery at site, who ensure all checks for nesting birds are conducted before any activity takes place. The council’s tree conservation officers have also been consulted, to make sure all aspects of environmental management have been considered. The ash works will require the shutting of certain areas of the car park, but the closures will be temporary and limited.
